According to The Scottish Sun, Swansea striker and Scotland international Oli McBurnie recently suggested he will one day play for Rangers.
The striker currently has seven league goals this season for The Swans, and looks in brilliant form both for club and country.
However, many people have suggested that the striker will not be at the club any time soon. This is primarily due to his contract at Swansea, meaning The Gers would have to pay a large sum. But it is reaching a point where the club should act fast, otherwise his price will only increase.
The 22-year-old’s stock is rising rapidly, whilst Rangers’ demand for a striker is also increasing. Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty have been unable to win over all the fans at Ibrox. Both are good on their day, but a number of mishaps, particularly from the Colombian, has curtailed their progress.
McBurnie, however, is proving to be a consistently high performer in the Championship, and should The Swans make it to the Premier League, may well be there too. That would make it even harder for Rangers to sign the Scotland international.
But The Gers are offered a glimmer of hope in the fact that Wilfried Bony is returning from injury in south Wales. He is a fan-favourite, and a very accomplished player. He will surely take priority over McBurnie in manager Graham Potter’s eyes, which could leave McBurnie out in the cold for a while. Although he could play as a winger, the door may be open slightly ajar for him to join the club he has supported all his life, and Rangers should take that opportunity soon.
