Things are starting to heat up ahead of the highly-anticipated Europa League quarter-final fixture between United and Lyon. After the ex-Red Devils and current Lyon midfielder called Andre Onana the worst goalkeeper in the Premier League club's history, the Cameroonian has now fired back with a 'trophy' jibe.

The war of words started after Onana claimed in a pre-match press conference that United 'are way better' than the Ligue 1 side and that he is confident of winning the clash. Matic then responded to the keeper's comments, saying: "I don't know. To say something like that, you need to have courage. I respect everyone, but I need to answer. When you're one of the worst goalkeepers in Man Utd's history, you need to take care about what you are talking. If David de Gea, Peter Schmeichel or Van der Sar said that, I will question myself. But if you are statistically one of the worst goalkeepers in Man Utd's modern history, then he needs to show that, before he says so. We will see."
WHAT ANDRE ONANA SAID
Onana took to social media to respond to the Lyon star as he wrote on X: "I would never be disrespectful to another club. We know that tomorrow will be a difficult game against a strong opponent. We focus on preparing a performance to make our fans proud. At least I’ve lifted trophies with the greatest club in the world. Some can’t say the same."
WHAT NEXT FOR MAN UTD?
After facing Lyon in the first leg of the Europa League fixture on Thursday, Ruben Amorim's side will be back in action in the Premier League on April 13 as they face Newcastle United at St. James' Park.
