Anticipating the former Burnley centre-back’s arrival at Goodison Park, we asked Everton fans yesterday who they think should partner Keane at the heart of Everton’s defence going forward – one of the club’s current senior options, such as Ashley Williams, Phil Jagielka and Ramiro Funes Mori, or another defensive signing.
And according to our poll, nearly half of all Everton fans view the Wales international as the ideal partner for Keane, with ‘another centre-back signing’ of unknown description coming second.
Unfortunately, however, club captain Jagielka came in with just 5% of the vote, suggesting Everton fans would prefer to see the former England man in a reduced role for 2017/18, whilst Argentina international Funes Mori picked up just 13%.
