Everton winger Henry Onyekuru was named as the best young player in Belgium in 2017 following his performances for KAS Eupen last season and then on loan at Anderlecht this term, and Toffees fans were quick to have their say on the news.
The Merseyside outfit won the race to sign the highly-rated attacker in the summer following an outstanding campaign with Eupen in which he scored 24 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions from out wide, but they sent him straight out on a season-long loan to Anderlecht as he didn’t qualify for a work permit.
The 20-year-old is currently undergoing rehabilitation at Finch Farm after suffering a knee injury during his time with the Belgian giants, but he received a boost by winning the ‘Talent of the Year’ at the Golden Shoe awards in Brussels on Wednesday.
Everton supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the news, and while one said “I can’t wait to see you in a blue shirt”, another said “this will be another young superstar Big Sam will alienate”.
