Premier League football is finally back this weekend after what seems like an age of UEFA Nations League fixtures, and Saturday certainly has some stand-out games. Chelsea vs Manchester United could be crucial in the race for the top four and Cardiff vs Fulham almost looks like a relegation six-pointer already.
Perhaps the most attractive tie though is West Ham vs Tottenham at the London Stadium. The Hammers had a poor start to the season, losing their opening four games under new boss Manuel Pellegrini, but since then they have been on the rise and beat Manchester United at home before their disappointing loss at Brighton.
As the Hammers brought in nine players over the summer, just across London, Spurs were taking the opposite approach and failed to sign a single player. Whilst the Lilywhites have still recorded their best ever start to a Premier League season, they have recently suffered a number of high-profile injuries and key players such as Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Mousa Dembele and Danny Rose may all miss out on Saturday.
Ahead of this game, we’ve teamed up with 5P0RTZ – the new revolutionary sports gaming experience – where YOU can win big cash prizes! All you have to do is answer seven questions for a chance to be entered into the prize pool.
Take a look at the questions below and then enter for free before kick-off. The prize fund for this fixture is £50!
Question 1 – What will the result of the match be?
It might be a bold call but we’re picking 15th placed West Ham to get one over on Tottenham here, just as they did when United visited the London Stadium.
With all the injuries Tottenham have suffered recently it would seem that it is the perfect time to play Mauricio Pochettino’s side, and with West Ham’s front-three looking increasingly impressive we’d back them to get the three points at home. 5P0RTZ are offering to quadruple your points if West Ham win so this would be a great start to get off to.
Question 2 – How many goals will be scored in the match?
Again, we’ll go out on a little bit of a limb here and say that we think this will be a high-scoring game. Spurs have only conceded seven goals in their first eight league games so far this season, but Jan Vertonghen will be a big miss up against Marko Arnautovic, Andriy Yarmolenko and Felipe Anderson.
Here at Football FanCast we think that there will be five or more goals, which will get you triple the points from 5P0RTZ if it comes in.
Question 3 – Pick a player that will score at anytime during the match
Picking Harry Kane to score won’t get your points multiplied here so we’d avoid the Tottenham man – although we do think he’ll step up to nab his seventh goal of the season in all competitions.
Although we do think West Ham will win, we’re pretty confident that the visitors could get two. So, to potentially double your points our tip would be for Heung-min Son to get his first goal of the season after his summer exertions at the World Cup and the Asian Games.
Question 4 – How many corners will be taken during the match
Although we think it could be a high scoring game, both of these two sides actually average very few corners. Tottenham are bottom of the average corners per game table, with just 8.38 after eight games of the season and West Ham are only two places above them with 9.38 in their games.
For this reason, we would go for the nine or fewer option that won’t get you any multiplier but could be the safest bet based on the statistics.
Question 5 – Pick one of these events to occur in the match
5P0RTZ offer eight different options here with varying multipliers, but we would have to go with ‘none of the above’ as none stand out as being more than likely to happen. There was a red card shown in this same fixture last season, but that was to Serge Aurier and he is unlikely to displace Kieran Trippier to start this weekend.
With both squads looking slightly depleted we can’t see a substitute who is nailed on to score either and an own goal is generally unlikely, so this may be the best option here.
Question 6 – Pick a player that will receive a card at any time during the match
There are a couple of possible options here for us, and we’d have to go for one of the West Ham midfielders. Pellegrini is likely to go with a central three of Declan Rice, Mark Noble and Pedro Obiang – and with 5P0RTZ offering to double your points if the youngster is booked, then Rice would be our pick of the bunch.
Question 7 – In which minute will the first goal be scored in the match?
Like all those old school exams, the last question is of course the most difficult. Considering we think there will be a glut of goals in this fixture, we’re gonna have to call that there will be an early goal. The Hammers came out of the blocks quickly in the win over United and scored after just five minutes, so we’re expecting a goal inside the first 10 in this tie.
It’s fun. It’s simple. It’s easy to win. Play 5P0RTZ now for your chance to win BIG!
