There are a number of Rangers fans out there who will have listened to manager Philippe Clement’s words about his plans for the summer transfer market, and will be expecting quite a busy number of months as we wheel and deal looking for further on pitch improvement under the 50 year old, as he enters his first full season in charge.
Decisions are already being taken, and this month alone we have seen a new deal for Leon Balogun, the effective departures of John Lundstram, Ryan Jack, Borna Barisic, Kemar Rooke and Jon McLaughlin who are on our released list, and the arrival of Oscar Cortes on a second loan spell from Lens, and we continue to be linked like slots free spins with numerous other deals, and names, on the speculation rumour mill.
As for the 20 year old, one capped Colombian international winger, Cortes returns to Ibrox for a second time. Having made the move at the beginning of February from Lens, he only featured seven times (one goal) before his season was brought to an early end with injury following the Kilmarnock clash.

Clearly we saw enough in the lad to give him a second chance to impress, and this fresh season long loan now has a buy obligation built in for the end of the season, so Gers fans will be eagerly watching his performances, as one way or another the winger is now ultimately ours for the foreseeable future.
Clement was naturally delighted that the move had gone through, restating his belief that he would be a big asset for us moving forward, and his arrival pretty quickly follows on from fellow 20 year old, Brazilian left back Jefte, who completed his move at the tail end of last month.
Club Director of Recruitment, Nils Koppen, has high hopes for the development potential of both players, and it is obvious that under Clement was have certainly made a greater shift towards development potential, and players who will hopefully have a far greater sell on value that will additionally benefit the club further down the line, we just have to ensure that we get the mix and the balance of experience and know how right.
Many would expect Cortes to have the bigger role and impact in next season’s coming campaign, but it will be interesting to see how much of a role, and introduction, Jefte ends up playing across the year given he is going to be a complete unknown for the vast majority of fans.
For now, we just wait and see who our next new face in the squad may be.
